Topic 8 On Students’ Information Retrieval Skills 关于学生信息检索技能薄弱原因分析
Nowadays, university students don’t frequent the libraries as before, though it is abundant in all sorts of resources, not only books and magazines but also a vast deal of digital resources. Students only turn to the Internet for information, so that their information retrieval skills are limited.
There may be a combination of reasons which account for this phenomenon. To begin with, many college students seldom pay visit to the library. Furthermore, students are so accustomed to the online information that is conveniently available at their fingertips that they cease to considering the library as their first option when it comes to look for information.
In my view, it is high time that the students’ information retrieval skills were improved. Effective measures must be taken to achieve this goal. For instance, universities can open such related courses. As long as they begin to use it, they are sure to find out there is no better place to get accurate as well as systematic information than in a library.
